Patriotism and citizenship are of great importance in the social and spiritual development of a person. They act as integral elements of his worldview and attitude towards his native country, other nations and peoples. These prerequisites define the patriotism of the Republic of Belarus as peace aimed at improving and protecting its democratic social legal state and cooperation with other states.

The main goals of the patriotic education of youth in the Republic of Belarus are to instill in young people a love for Belarus, the formation in them of a sustainable desire to contribute to its prosperity and the desire to protect it from enemies.

To achieve these goals, it is currently necessary to perform specific tasks, the main of which are:

  • instilling deep respect for the national heritage, traditions, customs, culture, and religions of the people of Belarus;

  • explanation of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, which creates conditions for democracy and civil harmony, free and dignified development of the individual;

  • instilling respect for the State Emblem and State Flag of the Republic of Belarus, based on the heroic and dramatic history of the Belarusian people;

  • fostering an understanding that under this coat of arms and flag new generations will build a highly developed Republic of Belarus, equal among the states of the world community;

  • instilling a sense of pride in one’s country and readiness to fulfill the social role of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus;

  • education in the spirit of national interaction and friendliness, monolithic unity of the people of the Republic of Belarus. International education;

  • instilling love and respect for the Belarusian language as the language of the indigenous population of Belarus, Russian and other languages ​​of the people of the Republic of Belarus;

  • revealing the beauties of Belarusian nature, convincing of the need to protect the ecological environment;

  • organization of implementation of defense sports complexes and standards;

  • instilling respect for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and for the defender of the Fatherland, the warrior;

  • formation in young men of moral, psychological and physical readiness to fulfill their constitutional duty to protect the Republic of Belarus;

  • conviction of the need for peace and international cooperation for Belarus.

    Education of citizenship and patriotism is a purposeful and systematic activity of schools, colleges, technical schools, universities, various youth organizations and recreational places for children and adolescents to develop in young people a high patriotic consciousness, a sense of loyalty to their Fatherland, readiness to fulfill civic duty and constitutional obligations to protect interests of the Motherland.
